Giovinco in Juve mega-offer for Cavani
Juventus have reportedly offered a staggering €20m, Sebastian Giovinco and Alessandro Matri for Napoli hitman Edinson Cavani, but Luis Suarez is also an option.

The Bianconeri have made it clear they want a ‘top player’ to reinforce their attack for next season in the Champions League.

According to the Corriere dello Sport this morning, that man is Cavani, who Napoli said they would only release for €70m.

The proposal being put to the Partenopei is supposedly €20m cash plus Italian internationals Giovinco and Matri.

Juve now own Giovinco after buying out Parma’s half of the starlet for €11m, but could immediately send him to the San Paolo in exchange for Cavani.

Matri struggled to find space in the side towards the end of the season and has been linked with a move away from Turin.

However, Tuttosport claim Juventus are instead turning their focus back towards Liverpool striker Suarez.

This is because of rumours the Reds are looking to Klaas-Jan Huntelaar and therefore putting Suarez on the market.

Another candidate for Juve is Robin Van Persie, but a great deal depends on whether he renegotiates his contract with Arsenal.

Official: Pescara keep Verratti
Marco Verratti was wanted by Juventus, Roma, Napoli and more, but Pescara and the player today confirmed he is “definitively off the market.”

The 20-year-old midfielder is nicknamed the ‘new Andrea Pirlo’ and was part of Cesare Prandelli’s long-list for the Euro 2012 Italy squad.

Negotiations were on-going with Juve for several weeks and Napoli were hoping to intercept with an offer of their own.

However, today both the player and Pescara released statements silencing the transfer gossip.

“I am staying at Pescara and respecting the contract I have with the club. I haven’t signed for or made agreements with anyone. Now we can think about Serie A!” wrote Verratti on his Facebook page.

The club also released a statement on the official Pescara website.

“This morning the directors of Pescara met with Marco Verratti and his agent. In this meeting the player confirmed his desire to stay with the Biancazzurri, having renewed his contract in January that will tie him to the side for another four years.

“Taking into account the player’s intentions, Pescara announce they have definitively taken the midfielder off the market.”

Pescara explain Verratti move
Marco Verratti has been taken off the market and Pescara explain it is because “we had enough of this tug of war.”

The 19-year-old midfielder had been in negotiations with Juventus, Napoli and Roma, but on Saturday the club announced he was definitively off the market.

“It is not a strategy to raise the price-tag. We agreed this course of action with the player and his agent,” President Daniele Sebastiani told Sky Sport Italia.

“There just aren’t the right conditions to continue negotiations and we had enough of this tug of war.

“Considering the lad wants to stay and has a contract until 2016, there isn’t such a big rush to finalise his future. We’ll discuss it again at the right time.”

It had been reported Juventus were down to details to complete the Verratti signature, but Sebastiani insists that was overblown.

“We did not reach an agreement with Juventus, as talks must be made for money and not just players in exchange.

“We set a perfectly suitable price-tag on Verratti, as in our view he is worth €10-12m. He proved all his quality last season.”

Verratti is nicknamed the ‘new Andrea Pirlo’ and was one of the key figures in securing Pescara’s promotion to Serie A.
